George Andreas, a long serving Rare executive who has been with the studio for over 16 years, has joined the ranks of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE).

Andreas joins the PlayStation console maker as creative director at the company’s London headquarters.

Speaking on his new role on LinkedIn, Andreas commented:

"My forward-thinking and unique creative vision combined with my world class user experience-focussed skills have made me a key go-to person throughout the organisation for many hardware and software initiatives.”

Rare produced some of the most critically-acclaimed titles of the past 15 years or so, including GoldenEye and Perfect Dark. Founded in 1985, the British studio partnered with Nintendo during the 1990s before being snapped up by Microsoft in 2002.

Rare was the golden age of gaming on the Nintendo 64. Diddy Kong Racing and Goldeneye were 2 of the 6 games I got with my N64 on Christmas '97. Banjo Kazooie still holds up to this day, I recommend downloading the hd remake on Xbox live. I do not recommend the remade Perfect Dark though. The sensitivity is weird witht he Xbox controller. Go original on that one. Jet Force Gemin.. my love affair 8) I did the first walkthrough of that game on Youtube.

    Rare were the days.. 8)
