The first batch of downloadable content for Dead Space 3 will be released next month, Visceral Games has announced.

The new content, title Awakened, features some of the “darkest chapters as the Necromorph battles become even more gruesome and terrifying than ever before.”

Awakened is scheduled to launch in March for $9.99 via PlayStation Network and 800 Microsoft Points on Xbox LIVE.

Dead Space 3 launches in the U.S. today. Read our review here.

Oh dear, this is very poor - the game isn't even out yet!

Also, 'some of the "darkest chapters as the Necromorph battles become even more gruesome and terrifying than ever before.”' - shouldn't the so-called 'darkest chapters' make it into a full game that's struggling as it is to stick to its survival-horror roots? If a game is being slated by its fans for losing its scare-factor, the last thing you want to do is take out the darkest parts and sell them as additional content!

This is a very bad move, EA...
