Fresh rumors pertaining to Sony’s as-yet unannounced next-generation console, PlayStation 4, have surfaced via Nikkei.
According to the report (translated by Gematsu), the new platform – codenamed Orbis – will take advantage of Gaikai; the cloud-based service purchased by Sony back in 2012. Furthermore, Sony is said to have abandoned the proprietary Cell chip used in the PS3.
Elsewhere, a second Japanese-based report claims that the PS4 will be released in the Land of the Rising Sun by the end of the year. However, most interesting is the alleged price point of the new platform, said “to exceed 40,000 yen” – that’s about $428.
Take all this with a pinch of salt until we get official confirmation from Sony, which will hopefully happen on February 20 at the PlayStation Meeting in NYC.
Stay tuned.

I wish Sony didn't abandon the CBE tech, it has way more to offer than what we got in the PS3s setup. A big shame. =(
On the price point, I think its a norm these days for consoles like Sonys/M$ to be around $400-$450 at start. Thats what im expecting.

The price isn't a surprise to me, PS3 did come out at 600€ with only 60gb hard disk, so at 450€ that isn't that expensive just normal price. Don't see the next xbox coming out for less than this either.
