PlayStation 3 has today seen the release of a new YouTube application, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) has announced.

The app is available to download now free of charge, and can be grabbed via the XMB in 'My Channels.'

The new app has been designed specifically for use with a big TV screen and PS3’s controls, offering search tools to locate videos faster and more efficiently. In addition, users can now sign-in and control the app via smartphone.

See below for the full skinny:

Dont get excited as we've had the app for a while now and it kinda sucks. Funny to read this as the search feature is the worst part

I'm so confused....I've had the YouTube App on the PS3 for awhile....why is this news again?

EDIT: NM, just realized this is for the EU...my bad...btw...THEY NEED A LIKE/DISLIKE option like on the PC and Mobile YouTube versions.

Not only the Like/Dislike. But they need to be able to remember your last place.

Scroll down, find one of your subscripitions. Watch a video from the channel than go back and you'll find that you have to scroll all the way back down again if you want to watch a video from the channel below the one you just watched. Or any other channel for that matter.

    It makes it really annoying.

Mines in another language (German I think)!  Random, but does anyone know how to change the language?

It got an update a week ago that got rid of L2 and R2 being able to skip forward and back by 10 seconds. It's really annoying to have to hit X or up just to open the small menu to go forward and back. I really wish they tested this with a small group before releasing it, but at least it looks better than going to Youtube directly through the internet browser. It doesn't look amazing, but noticably better.
