Is Sony trolling its rivals with these iOS ads?

Sony appears to be slinging fresh mud at rivals Microsoft and Nintendo, if a series of iOS ads are to be believed.

The ads are supposedly fresh marketing ploys cooked up by Sony PR to generate hype for the forthcoming PlayStation Meeting. Credit goes to @Nintex_nl for picking them up.

Both seem to be having a pop at Wii and Xbox 360 products, with the first targeting Wii Fit and the second image having a dig at Microsoft’s ‘Jump In’ advertising campaign. Check them out below, but obviously digest with a pinch of salt for good measure.

Sony will host its PlayStation Meeting next Wednesday, February 20.

I hope they don't go too far. Because last time they did this they got the short end of the stick. I think Sony can emphasize that they have a better product without trash talking their competition.

the Wiiboard is a joke, I have an ultra Nintendo fan friend that told me "hey, the Wiiboard is so sensitive even when you're not moving at all it detects movement" my answer "or it's just crap and and it shows any random thing on the screen!"

still can't understand why peple still don't understand 99% of Wii games only record when a partial movement is made and triggers a pre recorded scene on screen, damn in WiiSports tournaments the guys only do a slight twist with their hand at precise times, and most kids just shake the Wiimote all the time and sometimes they win or fail just because at the detection time they got the right or wrong movement ...

    Agree with #7

As long as Sony or any other company can back up its trash talk, let the mud slinging begin!!

Besides, the process of watching them go back and forth is more entertaining than many of the games any of them released this generation.

Let's be real here, Sony hasn't really agressively trash talked since freakin Crash bandicoot stood in Sega's parking lot with a megaphone...  When sega left consoles they didnt really NEED to, Nintendo was playing in their own tiny sandbox and the xbox wasnt even a blink on the radar for the majority of the PS2's life span, so they took the high road and kept quiet preferring instead to look high end and trying to make people think they were the Apple of Video gaming. When they ended up being a year late to the party rather than just 6 months and it didn't work out that way, they should have gotten more agressive but instead they let MS and the 360 push them around by dominating media and advertising.

Heck when Even Reggie is talking smack and he's not even commeting on the same generational level you know you've kept silent too long. Also Sony did a horrible job of educating the public about the PS3 in general so while I prefer a quiet and respectable Sony hopefully this signals them getting more bullish on proving they have the more desireable machine.

If you can't laugh at this, you're ill. I think this is nice! Nothing wrong with a little humor :)

PSU...sure, you posted this...just not feeling that you are with the PlayStation brand...Kinda feels like you are condeming SONY...you show your love for the XBOX 360 a bit too much guys... STOP TELLING US WHEN XBOX 360 GAMES COME OUT ALREADY! Is this not a PlayStation-only site? Too much love for the XBOX 360 to do that simple thing?.. I sure don't hate either of the others, but it just feels wrong...like you're hookers for Micro$oft :/ Why not leave XBOX 360 stuff to the sites you linked to below?..

@10 - They don't tell us when any Xbox games come out. They inform us of the release dates of multiplatform games that are on PS3 and provide a date for the competition to allow comparison. Also, they announce the other consoles that the game is also available on in order to prevent misleading us into thinking it's a PlayStation exclusive. I understand your point, but stop your complaining.
