PlayStation 4 will not require an Internet connection in order to play games, Sony Worldwide Studios head honcho Shuhei Yoshida has confirmed.
While Sony’s philosophy with PS4 is clearly social-oriented, Yoshida-san confirmed that you won’t have to go online just to play a game – a requirement which the next Xbox is reported to implement.
Speaking with Eurogamer, the executive said: “Oh yes, yes, you can go offline totally. Social is big for us, but we understand there are some people who are anti-social! So if you don’t want to connect to anyone else, you can do that.”
Sony has also stated its intention to keep Firmware updates and other such tweaks working in the background, so if you leave you PS4 connected to the Internet, you’ll receive a constant stream of updates.
