With Final Fantasy XIV's relaunch and rebranding nearly upon us, Square Enix has opened beta sign-ups for PlayStation 3 gamers.

Final Fantasy XIV Producer and Director Naoki Yoshida shared the news on the official PlayStation Blog and detailed several new features that players should anticipated with A Realm Reborn. Callbacks to prior Final Fantasy titles abound, including the Crystal Tower raid dungeon (Final Fantasy III) and ridable magitek armor (Final Fantasy VI).

PS3 owners can sign-up for beta participation here, though registration does not confirm later involvement. Square will be sending out invites when Phase Three of the beta period begins, though Yoshida decline to mention when that might be. In any case, a host of new screenshots demonstrate that work on the title has certainly been productive - PS3 gamers may soon be in for a visual treat.

Do you plan on buying Final Fantasy XIV when it launches on PS3? What about signing up for the beta? Let us know in the comments section, and keep it here at PSU.com for more on Final Fantasy XIV, including our eventual review.
