Australia will finally see the long-awaited release of Mortal Kombat on May 29, Warner Bros. has confirmed.

The bloody beat-‘em-up was initially refused classification in the region following its launch in 2011, due to its copious bloodshed and violence.

However back then Australia’s rating system did not accommodate an adult rating certificate; the highest a video game could receive was R15+.

Thanks to the introduction of the R18+ rating, Mortal Kombat was granted release earlier this year in its Komplete Edition incarnation.

Is it worth picking up two years down the line? In a word, yes.
