Sony waiting for 'right time' to show off The Last Guardian

Sony has stepped up to apologise to gamers awaiting new information on Team ICO’s long-delayed The Last Guardian.
It was widely anticipated that the boy-meets-griffin adventure would show its face at the PlayStation Meeting on Wednesday, after rumors persisted that the project had since moved to PlayStation 4.
However, this wasn’t the case, with no mention of the title given at the event – even though creator Fumito Ueda said last week that gamers should “keep an eye out” for potential announcements.
As a result, Sony Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida told Kotaku, “I apologise to people who are waiting for the game.”
"Ueda-san posted that he's still working on it, that he's creative-directing it and that the team in the Japan studios are working hard," the executive explained.
"We are waiting for the right time to re-introduce The Last Guardian."
Pressed as to whether or not the game has been moved to PS4, Yoshida-san replied, “we’re going to talk about it when we can.”
Do you think The Last Guardian will remain a PS3-exclusive, or do you think Sony has quietly moved it to PS4? Let us know in the comments section below.

Assuming this game ever does release. (I still have hope). It seems as if they will need to sell every copy shipped to even think about breaking even, then sell more to make profit.

I think it's possible that this game will be released on both platforms, PS3 and PS4. I hope though

It's probably too far into development to change into a PS4 game. It will not be able to showcase the potential of a new platform which is what launch games are for after all. Hoping for a PS3 release cos lets face it this is not an FPS shooter/commercial cash cow

Its the only game I have been waiting on this gen with aniticipation tbh (apart from GT5). Its a sad state of affairs to have to wait so long, but the good news is that it is still coming in some form. It is a little unfair if it is going to go to PS4, as I personally don't see any motivation from this gens games to buy another console.
Im just tired of visuals, perks & achievements being used to sell games when the gameplay itself us mostly lacking. PS3 gamers (no..all gamers, XboX & PC included) deserve games with better variety and depth of gameplay IMO.

since there is no BC im not as motivated to buy PS3 games.. id rather focus on the next gen games than pick up games i wont be able to bring over. Im not the type to keep two systems ..The PS3 would be my first to debate about keeping. I just want to see closer to release date what "ports" like last guardian or MG Revenegence or random game cross over games if any, would appear on the PS4. After i get an idea, ill make the move to buying PS3 games. Right now i have a good collection of some un-opned games to keep me busy

shadowjin makes the point I've been saying for a while now, it's going to cause sony to compete against themselves with how sudden this thing is getting dropped on us and especially without BC. Either you're going to wait because you feel like it's too soon for the next gen consoles and the sales of the system will suffer, or you'll sell the old system and jump to the next system. This'll cause you to skip titles like Last Guardian that deserve to sell millions of copies, but they wont because the consumers wont be there anymore. If we knew where the cut off was like we did in previous generations or there was simply a better effort to port the games to BOTH systems maybe it would be easier on us. BC would have cleared up so much of this but the only solution they have for us is Gaikai which will undoubtedly be a subscription based service that a lot of people will refuse to pay for on general principle.

I think the delay is a strong indication this game is coming to PS4 to take advantage of all the potential of that system. 512MB of system ram and graphic ram wasn't as much of a tight fit back in 2006 when the PS3 launched, but now it probably feels like the PS2 to developers.
Plus, I bet they're happy to move on to PS4 simply because of the more familiar architecture over Cell, which has to be coded very tight and carefully. I bet SONY software engineers are happy too, giving them an easier job making toolkits and libraries for PS4. On top of that, devs have a wealth of ram to work with, really fast ram, and if you want to bring a large world to existence filled with life, that's almost essential. No more Lairs with cut n paste enemy clones, everything and being in the game can have its own behavior, and environments can be as destructible as the developers want to make them.
All in all, I'd rather see such an epic game with all kinds of potential be released on PS4, so that its potential can be realized completely.

Let's hope you're right about that, but considering the PS3 was supposed to usher in an era of more intelligent AI and more realistic physics, expecting them to not take short cuts once again seems like a pipe dream. (although, I will admit physics did improve quite a bit.)
