Quantic Dream's PS4 tech demo is the greatest facial animation gaming's ever seen

Quantic Dream didn't have a PlayStation 4 game ready to show at Sony's PlayStation Meeting, but the studio still astounded with a tech demo that left PSU editors and gaming press at large positively floored.
In the demo below, studio founder and Co-CEO David Cage demonstrates a level of photorealistic facial animation that shames any wannabe competition. We don't know this old man's story, but we certainly feel a sense of fatigue, world-weary pessimism, and contemplative wisdom from the way his brow wrinkles and his eyes sadly plea for... something.
What's your take on Quantic Dream's PS4 tech? What are you hoping to see in the studio's first next-gen game?

While I agree with cage's assertion that the character shown can deliver a huge degree of emotion and makes you wonder about him, so can a well carved sculpture that doesnt move at all. The key is in the acting and delivery of the actor behind the digital mask. We can only hope it's being put to good use until we actually see a game come out of it.

It is the best animation I've seen yet. I hope to see a ton of this in future games that come out. It would be something extremly different, than what we are use to.

I'm glad I bit the bullet and purchased Heavy Rain, a simply amazing game in spite of the cued button press gameplay. I have no doubt that this is going to be an amazing experience. Maybe it will involve a subject I'm hoping to explore in my own science fiction writing: can you trust the first thinking machine which has the ability to kill you, and do you give it freedom?
Oh yeah, about that virtual "Jason Robards." While all of the faces on the characters impressed me - like, did you pay attention to the CAPCOM "down below" demo? - this was eerily, stunningly realistic. I immediately felt empathy for the guy, and want to know what his story is.
