Sony has pledged that PlayStation Plus will continue to play a ‘prominent’ role as the company shifts into the next-generation with PlayStation 4.
Speaking with the PlayStation Blog, Jim Ryan, president and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE), described the service as “a core part of the way forward,” before adding that it will have a “prominent role to play” as far as PS4 is concerned.
Ryan went on to say that the console maker is “very happy with the service” it has been able to offer consumers with PS Plus.
In regards to where PS3 stands once its successor hits shelves, the executive said: “PS3 is a very important part of our portfolio, certainly in 2013, 2014 and probably beyond that.”
Sony unveiled PS4 in New York City last week, where it confirmed a holiday 2013 release window for the new console.

ok, plus will come out on PS4 but you will not get free PS4 for quite a while because they are new games, so its more likely you will get PS3 games for free and can play them over Gaikai... Also PSN plus will give you much more stuff than a non PSN Plus subscriber, eg streaming etc...(Just My Opinion)

I think having a Plus subscription is a good deal. Yeah, some of the games are not playable when the subscription ends. But over half of the games I got free, are permanently mine. When you add all that up, it excedes the $50 a yr that your paying for it, and thats not incliding the other deals you get along the way. Its well worth it, and its awsome that the PS4 will have it also. lol everyones a critic. =)
