Crystal Dynamics is working closely with the GK Films, the makers of the planned Tomb Raider movie reboot, reports Variety.
Lara Croft’s next silver-screen outing – her first since the disappointing Cradle of Life in 2003 – will follow the same concept of the new Tomb Raider videogame, in that it will detail the origins of the iconic treasure hunter.
Speaking to Variety, Crystal Dynamics overlord Darrell Gallagher commented: “They are working from this new take that we’ve given them. It’s a good partnership. We’re seeing the challenges through the same lens.”
"It was important for both of us to have a cohesive version of the franchise. We didn't want to see a film version that was a continuation of the old Tomb Raider films."
As to who will be stepping into those iconic boots, well, that’s still up in the air. The previous Tomb Raider films starred Angelina Jolie in the title role, though given that the new flick will focus on a younger Croft, we can't imagine Jolie will return for a third outing.
Could it possibly be Camilla Luddington, the young lass who portrayed Croft in the new Tomb Raider game, as well as providing motion-capture for our heroine? Time will tell, but after her impressive performance in the game, we wouldn’t rule it out.
Stay tuned for our review of Tomb Raider this week.

Everyone is going darker, mine as well reboot the TR franchise! Camilla Luddington would be great as Lara, then just surround her with some big named talent to sell to the masses. She is going to have to hit the weights a little though and get some defintion to sell the audience that she can climb rock cliffs and whatnot.
