Braid creator Jonathan Blow thinks PS4 may beat next Xbox

Speaking to EDGE magazine, celebrated indie dev and Braid creator Jonathan Blow indicated Sony's positioning with PlayStation 4 is more desirable than Microsoft's direction with the next-generation Xbox.
Specifically, Blow thinks Microsoft's all-encompassing entertainment focus misses the mark, and Sony's developer-first approach makes PS4 the next-gen platform of choice. "To me they talk about a console that is not strictly about games. It’s trying to be the centre of the living room device, which is fine and maybe it’s the right thing for Microsoft to do, business-wise," he explained. "I don’t know; I actually don’t think it is, but they’ve certainly thought about it more than me!"
Blow's latest game, an indie puzzler dubbed The Witness, will launch exclusively on PS4. While the game may be ported to PC, iOS, or Xbox down the line, developer Thekla, Inc. has no concrete plans to do so.
A poor working relationship with Microsoft may contribute to Blow's sentiment. "I’ve had a bad time working with Microsoft in the past. Maybe not super bad, but a moderately bad time in terms of business relationships," he lamented. "Other developers who are friends of mine have had a horrible time . . . there’s a certain amount of dread I have about doing that again. I don’t have that with Sony."
As it stands, Blow is excited about PS4 as a platform, and glad to be publishing his game as a timed Sony exclusive. "[Sony realizes] that downloadable games are going to be bigger than they ever have been. . . . As a place to put the best, highest performing version of our game on, [the next Xbox] doesn’t seem as good a choice."

Lol, he's not the only developer to have a bad relationships with M$, there have been many. Im pretty confident that Sony will beat M$ with the PS4, specially with all the positive responses its getting already. H.e.l.l, the console and all of its features haven't even been show yet, there is still a lot more to show.

With Sony as the sole platform of choice, which is my choice anyways, we need some new company to join the ranks of the "big 3" as it seems nintendo and MS are losing their hold - maybe apple or google should join the consoles wars so we have a healthy growth of innovation and development. Personally I think Sony's PS4 will win next generation and then some 'new" kid on the block will come along and stir things up some. agreed?

I agree with this article, but who here doesn't? C'mon it's a playstation lovers website. Most of my friends went Xbox this gen and the past couple of weeks i've been trying to break them down and convince them that Sony isn't fcking around next gen so they need to switch over. I'll be able to make my final points once Microsoft finally announces the nextbox. Based on rumors if you're in it for the true gamer experience, playstation is the side to be on boys.

You have to admit that when you stay up to date on everything "Next gen" oriented, it is fairly exciting. The PS4, and the "NextBox" will both be consumer products- so both marketing teams will definitely be battling for the inside of your wallet. I myself won't be too hardpressed about which device I game onsimply because I'm a gamer ultimately and I respect a well crafted experience-regardless of platform.In short, let the console wars rage on, let the fanboys remain passionate about their preferrable systems, let their be band-wagoners, let their be those with no knowledge of games stating opinions on games, and most of all let the good times roll!!!!

You do understand that not everyone is as fortunate as you and that they have to be more deliberate with their choice of console right? these things have to last5 years to a decade for a lot of people and it's not as simple as just "buying them all". THAT is why there will be console wars. not just because of silly immature arguments but because people HAVE to fight for the platform of their choosing, not only to insure they have a social circle in which to enjoy the games but also so that developers and publishers see that there's a fanbase worth catering to on them. It might seem fun to bash on the fanboys that take it too far but when you do that you're simply a fanboy of a different type.
