In the months since its debut at last year's Spike Video Game Awards, Moby Dick Studios' The Phantom Pain has been the subject of much internet scrutiny. Fans and press alike point to obvious signs of The Phantom Pain being Metal Gear Solid 5 (or Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes). Everything from the game's logo to the appearance of Metal Gear Solid 3's Volgin signifies as much, and we may find out the truth by week's end.

GTTV's Geoff Keighley has tweeted that he is meeting with Joakim Mogren, the supposed (read: fictional) CEO of the supposed (read: fictional) Moby Dick Studios. Keighley's Mogren interview will air in GTTV's primetime-Thursday slot, which GameTrailers often reserves for game reveals and exclusive details. It's where PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale was debuted to the world. It's where Black Ops II's Zombie Theater mode was unveiled. And it will be where The Phantom Pain--the next Metal Gear Solid--will finally receive its truthful unveiling.

Not convinced? One other prominent journalist has hinted toward a weeks-end reveal of The Phantom Pain. You see, GTTV reveals are often followed by a next-day explosion of news and features on other game websites. Here's what IGN's PlayStation Editor Colin Moriarty had to say on Twitter earlier today:

So, it's not BioShock Infinite. Could it be a review build of Soul Sacrifice? Seems a bit early... the game is earmarked for US release on April 30, and we're way too early to start seeing North American reviews. How about a preview build or press demo of The Phantom Pain?

Is this speculation? Absolutely. Is this entirely reasonable, given industry trends and the not-so-coincidental timing of these hints? I think so, but I'm excited to hear what you think.
