Final Fantasy XI could come to PS4, says producer

According to an interview with Final Fantasy XI producer Matsui Sukueni, Final Fantasy XI has a shot at showing up on PlayStation 4.

Final Fantasy XI was first released on PlayStation 2 and PC in 2002, but rumors back in 2011 indicated that Final Fantasy XI could appear on PlayStation Vita. Now, it seems Sukueni himself has some ideas for the future of the successful MMORPG. To AstralSideGames, he says, "I wonder if there's also the possibility of porting FFXI. I'd like to try making a FFXI spin-off where the server would be the PS4 and the Vita would be used as the client and you could do parties by everyone gathering together with their Vitas or something like that."

The rest of the interview can be found here (in Japanese). If Final Fantasy XI DOES receive a PS4 release, I believe it will cause consumer confusion. With Final Fantasy XIV coming to PS3, what sense does it make for XI to wind up on PS4?
