(continued from previous page) ...vigilante who hasn't yet adopted the Batman persona.
So when it comes to straight facts about the Batman game we only know it will be out this year, we are no wiser at this point in time as to who the developer is or whether the game might be a silver age prequel. Even if the next Batman game is set in the fifties, will it give fans the game they are expecting? A silver age Batman game might bring a fresh perspective to his world but if it deviates from the gritty feel of the first two games it could backfire and alienate fans and reviewers.
So what do you think the next Batman game will be and is there any part of Batman's world not yet seen that would make a good addition to this next instalment?

In the latest story from DC comics called, "Death of the Family" there is a segment that talks about Batmans first encounters with the joker and its done in kind of a more gritty tone. I cant remember what particular title it was under that showed the segment. But Bruce Wayne talks about one of his first meetings with the joker and the art and atmoshpere just seemed alot more darker. So may be they are going for a tone kind of like that. Or it could be they are trying to market to younger audiances and making a game thats a little bit more kid friendly with violence and the really dark themes toned down a notch. I dont know. I just cant believe that there hasnt been more news about this.
Who knows it could be like the call of duty franchise where it seems the call of duty black ops games are made by a different company than the call of duty modern warfare games. Could be warner bros will do the kiddie friendly stuff and rocksteady takes on the other way that fans seem to love.
With bat man there is plenty of source material to work with. In Arkham asylum it was loosely based on the actual Arkham Asylum graphic novel, but definately not the same at all. I think they will shoot for a batman year one type of vibe. If they dont I would like to see a game like that. But most important is that the casting has to be right. I would actually like to see a Dark knight returns game since they made up the DKR skin I could just imagine a game from that. I think they could get michael Ironside or whatever his name is to do the voice of batman. He was the guy that did sam fisher in the splinter cell games. That would be awsome if they made a game like that well.

You raise some very intersting points
Firstly two Batman games one for kids and one for adults would certainly work , look at BAtman lego as a good example of how it could work. Wish I'd thought of that to put in the article !
Secondly " Death of the Family " would make a great game certainly less surreal than the original Arkham Asylum by Grant Morrison. Also if Scott Synder was to write a Batman game I don't think many people would complain.
last Michael Ironside as Batman in the Dark Knight Returnsd needs to happen ASAP !
