U.K. tabloid The Sun is reporting that Sony will release the PlayStation 4 in October, and will cost around £300.
The news comes as part of an interview with PlayStation boss Andrew House, where the paper writes that the new console is “believed to be coming out in October,” and that “experts believe [PS4] could retail for about £300.”
It’s worth pointing out however, that House himself is not quoted in regards to the above information. Instead, the journalist added it as merely a supplement to the interview. Still, one wonders how the reporter was privy to such details, given that no source was provided.
House did provide some interesting comments about Sony’s philosophy in regards to attracting both hardcore and casual gamers with PS4, however.
“We are not going down the route of making the console pink of course. I think the key is to have people — and increasingly women — with different sensibilities creating different games. It is not all about shoot ’em up games. The key is getting games developers — who are going to make the next Angry Birds — excited about the PS4. And they are,” he said.
