Watch Dogs on PS4: new screenshots, gameplay video, and more

If Watch Dogs isn't near the top of your most-anticipated PlayStation 4 games list, it probably should be. The open-world shooter from Ubisoft looks crazy ambitious, and we have more evidence of its graphical and gameplay qualities than we have for any other PS4 game.

Case in point? The latest batch of screenshots from Ubisoft, a couple of which you can see below (Hit up the rest in our game gallery). The particle effects and light sources on display in this brilliantly realized Chicago are stunning, and we can't wait to see whether the game's entire world can hold up to this level of polish.

To see it all in action, peep the gameplay video below, complete with developer commentary. Yes, that is PS4 footage you're witnessing.

Earlier today, the official PlayStation Blog was kind enough to report some new details, as well. Turns out protagonist Aiden Pearce is a physically capable man with a sordid past--both brute force and stealth are viable combat options, and you'll bear witness to a narrative of murky moral quandaries. You can also hack almost anything in the city to your advantage, or simply to create some novel scenarios:

"Thanks to Chicago’s Central Operating System (ctOS), the city’s expansive (and invasive) technology is constantly at your fingertips. Take control of a nearby security camera to map out the positions of guards in a well-fortified area, raise a garage door or forklift to confuse and distract your would-be enemies, or — if you’re in particularly dire straits — tamper with the traffic grid and cause a multi-car pileup. These aren’t scripted scenarios, but dynamic and occasionally unpredictable events that can change the course of an escape in a nanosecond."

Ubisoft has also confirmed that single-player and multiplayer will "seamlessly overlap," something we've been tuned into since the game's E3 2012 reveal trailer teased as much. We'll have to wait for clarification, but I don't think we'll have to wait much longer than four weeks...

Watch Dogs is out on PS4 and PS3 this holiday season.
