Free-to-play actioner Warframe will be released on PlayStation 4 at launch as a timed exclusive, Digital Extremes has announced.
The game will be released on November 15 in the U.S. and November 29 in Europe, remaining exclusive to Sony’s next-generation consoles for three months. That means no other platform will be able to experience the game until 2014.
Warframe is built around the concept of co-op play and clan-building, taking full advantage of PS4’s comprehensive social connectivity features. In addition, the title also utilizes many of the new features afforded by the DualShock 4, including touchpad and integrated audio.
Players assume control of newly-awakened Tenno warriors, who find themselves propelled into the midst of a universe-spanning war. Armed with the titular Warframe, powerful exo-skeletal technology boasting unrivalled powers, gamers can battle it out solo or team up in squads of four to battle foes and hunt down ancient artefacts to upgrade their abilities.
“With how the industry is evolving, this really is the Player Generation,” commented Digital Extremes’ creative director, Steve SinClair.
“Games are reaching players hands in so many different ways now and Sony gets it, which is why we are bringing Warframe exclusively to the PS4™ first. There’s no reason not to download Warframe on day 1 if you’re an action game lover – it’s free!”
