TimeSplitters Rewind, the fan product that brings together content from the three TimeSplitters games, could come to PlayStation 4. Speaking to Gaming Blend, the leader of the project, Michael Hubicka, says that the Crytek-supported game is planned for PS4 but may not end up on the platform.
Hubicka says ‘We’re actually going to go ahead and start development [of Timesplitters Rewind] on PlayStation 4. Just because we’re pretty confident Crytek’s going to say go ahead and do it. But we don’t want them saying go ahead and do it when we’re caught with our pants down and we’re like halfway through development and [then] start something for the PlayStation 4.’
TimeSplitters is a first-person shooter set across different eras and universes. It was created by GoldenEye N64 veterans Free Radical Design, developers of the infamous PS3 exclusive Haze. It is notable for its cartoon-esque design and wacky style.
The game’s fate lies with Crytek’s legal department, who have to sign off on the game before it is allowed to be released on a console. Let’s hope TimeSplitters makes it to PS4.
