Gran Turismo 6 is set to release on PlayStation 3 this December, but that isn’t stopping series creator Kazunori Yamauchi from talking about the next entry in the racing franchise.
When asked about the PlayStation 4 by Famitsu, Yamauchi-san said that “The PlayStation 4′s large memory size is a unique trait," but added, "I think the online community aspect, one of the most fun parts of GT, doesn’t have anything to do with the platform."
The Polyphony Digital boss then went on to talk about what Gran Turismo will be on PS4 and when we could expect to see it.
"The PlayStation 4 game which we’ll likely call GT7 will be done in about a year or two, I think, and I think the community aspect’s going to be vital there as well," he said.
The Gran Turismo series is known for large gaps between releases, with GT5 coming out over five years after GT4, for example. However, there has been two games released in successive years as well; GT2 came out in 2000 for the PSOne, and then GT3 released on PS2 a year later. Maybe that release line-up is what Sony is following again.
