A new PlayStation 4 and Xbox One title is currently in development at Prope, the studio established by former Sonic Team boss and all-around SEGA legend, Yuji Naka.
Prope has worked largely on smaller projects for handheld consoles and mobiles in recent years, but a job posting on its official website indicates that it is ready to make the transition to new home consoles.
The ad says the studio is staffing up for a title on ‘next-generation’ formats, with Sony and Microsoft’s new consoles both given a shout out.
Full details are unknown at this point, though the recruitment page mentions ‘social gaming operation experience,’ and calls for background designers, 2D designers and effects designers.
Naka-san made his breakthrough in the games industry with Sonic the Hedgehog in 1991, after which he moved to Sega Technical Institute in the U.S. Here, he brushed shoulders with future PlayStation 4 architect Mark Cerny during development of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and its sequels.
He later assumed the role of producer at SEGA of Japan and continued to see success in titles such as NiGHTS, Sonic Adventure, Phantasy Star Online, and Burning Rangers before setting up Prope in 2006.
Stay tuned to PSU.com for more details on Naka-san’s upcoming PS4 title as it becomes available.
