In time for the impending arrival of PlayStation 4 later this month, Sony has confirmed that PlayStation Vita’s new update–firmware 3.00–will allow the platforms to link up in numerous ways.
On the PlayStation Blog, SCEA’s Sharon Kapitula details what is new in this update. Included is a new app–PS4 Link–that allows the PS4 and PS Vita to connect for Remote Play and second-screen features, among other interactions. Party chat on PS Vita has also been updated, with a new icon and the ability to text and voice chat with PS4 users.
Meanwhile, the PS Vita Friends app is now better organized, with panoramic photos and enhanced parental controls rounding out the update. The PS Blog post was accompanied by a video, shown below, that catalogs firmware 3.00’s extensive goodies.
U.S. gamers are already reporting that firmware 3.00 is available to download and install now, so hop to it! Then, let us know what you think of the changes in the comments below.
