PS4 hits one million sold in first 24 hours

PlayStation 4 hit one million units sold in the first 24 hours of release.

Shuhei Yoshida, President of Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios, excitedly tweeted today: "PS4 has sold through over 1 million units within 24 hours of the launch in North America!!!"

John Koller, Head of Hardware Marketing for PlayStation, says the same: "1M PS4s sold through in first 24 hours! Thanks to gamers everywhere - Greatness Awaits!"

Adam Boyes, with PlayStation Publisher & Developer Relations, adds: "Thanks to all of you gamers in getting us to 1,000,000 sales of #PS4 in our first 24 hours!"

In a single day, the sales of PS4 are already over a quarter of the Wii U's total sales (as of October 30). The Wii U was first released on November 18, 2012.

PS4's next release date is November 29 in Australia, Brazil, and Europe.

Did you contribute to these impressive sales? Have you had any early issues with your PS4? Sound off in the comments.
