Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. (SCEI) President and Group CEO Andrew House has said the PlayStation 4’s control pad and its various functions appeal to both hardcore gaming fans and newcomers alike.
Speaking during an interview with JeuxVideo (via VG247), House said the DualShock 4 can offer non-gamers a smooth transition into the medium when used in conjunction with the camera and touchpad.
“We feel that we have developed a controller interface that is equal accessible to the hardest of hardcore gamers who will get the fullest benefits out of their gaming experiences, but when used in combination with the camera or using the touch pad, is very very easily accessible even to the person that is playing games for the first time,” he said.
The executive also reiterated the company’s belief that PS4 offers high value due to its competitive price and software line-up.
PS4 launched in the U.S. on November 15 and has sold over one million units to date. The console will hit the U.K. and Europe this Friday, priced £349.
