PSN voucher redemption halted amidst PS4 network issues

PlayStation 4 owners with PSN codes will be disappointed by the news that they still cannot use them while Sony resolves PlayStation Network issues.

In the second of two progress updates, Fred Dutton, manager of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe’s PlayStation Blog stated that there is "core network stability" on PSN, but voucher redemption will still be controlled due to volume. However, Dutton also said that PSN features, such as the Content Information Service which was withheld in Europe, will soon be rolled out.

The announcement comes contrary to some reports earlier today by gamers who claimed that voucher redemption was back online. This may, however, have been temporary.

On Friday it was reported via the EU and US PlayStation blogs that Sony was "aware that users are experiencing some disruption to the PSN service." and that during investigation the ability to redeem codes would be suspended in order to "minimise the incovenience". This included "money cards, product vouchers, PlayStation Plus vouchers, PS3-PS4 upgrade vouchers and any other vouchers for digital content".

This came after SCEE stated that certain PSN features would not be available immediately after the European launch in order to keep the service running at it’s best.
