In an update on its website and Twitter, Bungie has announced that the much-anticipated first-person shooter, Destiny, will be launching on September 9, 2014 - with a Beta exclusive to PlayStation 3 and 4 coming sometime before.

‘’Today, in partnership with Activision, we are proud to announce that the worldwide launch of Destiny will happen on September 9th. Accordingly, the Destiny Beta will kick off in the summer of 2014, available first on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3.’’, reads the official site.

Destiny is Bungie’s first title to feature on a Sony system - coming after the monumental success of its previous series, Halo. Players will join together and take part in a living breathing, fully-realised sci-fi world in what Bungie is calling a ‘’shared-world shooter.’’

Looking forward to Bungie's expansive new sci-fi shooter? Sound off below.
