Namco Bandai switching name to Bandai Namco

Namco Bandai’s name is in the opposite order of what it is called in Japan. Starting on April 1 however, all subsidiaries of the company will be renamed to Bandai Namco.

Namco Bandai announced the change during a board of director’s meeting on January 23, which will affect a total of 31 subsidiaries. The name shift will be seen in 6 domestic Japanese and 25 overseas subsidiaries. The full list can be found here.

The major Japanese game company said the reason behind the move was to increase their brand’s value and appeal abroad. Dark Souls II and Tales of Zestiria are two major upcoming releases by Namco Bandai for the PlayStation 3, along free-to-play games Soulcalibur: Lost Swords and Ace Combat Infinity, based on the company’s longtime franchises.
