PS4 mobile companion app receives streaming-friendly update

The PlayStation 4 companion app for Android and iOS has been updated to give gamers easy access to game streams, according to Engadget.

The new Live From PlayStation feature connects you with Twitch and UStream videos, though the videos can't be watched within the app itself.

The update also allows for video playback in notifications from the PlayStation store, which doesn't connect to a PS4 in standby so that the console isn't awoken.

Gamers with the app can use it for PlayStation Network functions, including purchasing games on the move and triggering their download on the PS4. It can also be used for second screen functionality with certain games.
