At long last, HBO GO is available on a PlayStation platform. A whole world of awesome content awaits.
Of course, the quality of HBO’s myriad available TV series and movies is subjective, but it’s hard to deny the pop-cultural impact from and critical praise for True Detective, Game of Thrones, and The Newsroom alongside classics like The Sopranos and The Wire. All of this is now available to stream on PS3, provided you have an existing cable or satellite TV subscription that includes HBO.
If you do, you’re likely to be impressed by HBO GO’s slick presentation and impressive back catalog–I know I was. From brand-new episodes to the entire series that preceded them, from film classics to modern blockbusters, the lineup is seriously impressive and changing on a monthly basis.
The HD quality leaves a LITTLE to be desired, though. I’m watching The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey right now, and while it looks good, Netflix streams have performed better. Still, the app is fast and stable–more than Sony’s own PlayStation Store can say.
