PS4 firmware 1.7 update release date planned for April 30

Though Sony Computer Entertainment America has yet to officially announce a launch date for PlayStation 4 firmware update 1.7, the Japanese arm of the company has revealed an April 30 release.

A post in the Japanese Play Community, translated by DualShockers, states:

At the booth there will be corners for you to experience the new features that allows to broadcast to the popular Nico Nico service from PS4, that will be implemented in the update coming on Wednesday, April 30th.”

Due to the various time zones across the world, it does mean that the update is likely to be rolled out around that time so could hit North America and Europe any time between April 29 and May 1, 2014. The much-anticipated update includes a new SHAREfactory feature and the ability to preload games prior to release.
