At a press event today, Disney Interactive Studios revealed Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes, the follow-up to last year’s toy-fueled sandbox.
This year’s biggest upheaval is the inclusion of Marvel characters like Captain America, Iron Man, Hawkeye, Black Widow, Spider-Man, the Guardians of the Galaxy, and many more. More Disney characters will join the fray, too, with more play sets, 80 new Power Discs, and a host of new features inbound.
Looks like this is what Disney was teasing in the 2.0 Edition trailer from a few weeks back:
Among these new features are tools for the game’s Toy Box mode, in which players are free to create expansive worlds and act out adventures with otherwise paradoxical characters. The level cap is being raised to 20 and new brush tools enables the building of race tracks, bushes, castles, and even entire cities. Interior design is also being added.
Character-specific additions are coming, too. Abilities and skill trees for Marvel’s heroes create an interesting dynamic, with Hawkeye’s ranged attacks and melee skills balancing the brawling abilities of Thor, Hulk, and Captain America, for example. The new setting, Marvel Manhattan, is four times larger than the Incredibles play set of Disney Infinity 1.0.
No word yet on a release date besides 2014, but we know Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes is coming to PS3 and PS4. Excited?
Thanks, IGN.
