Capcom will unveil a new Resident Evil title at E3 next week, according to the latest Internet gossip.
The claim originates from a chap named ‘News Bot,’ who is regarded in the Resident Evil community as a reliable source of information. The tip was picked up by NeoGAF (via loadthegame).
According to him, the game won’t in fact be the long-rumored Resident Evil 7, but rather a spin-off in a similar vein to Resident Evil: Revelations.
Furthermore, the tipster claims that the game will feature three returning characters; two female and one male. Two of them haven’t been seen in over a decade, while the third has only been mentioned in past titles, and never actually appeared physically.
Thankfully, he added that this character is NOT from the comics/movies, so don’t expect to see Milla Jovovich’s Alice rocking up to kick some undead butt.
Given the fact two of the mystery protagonists haven’t been seen in over a decade, this leaves us with a number of options: Barry Burton, Billy Coen, Claire Redfield, Carlos Oliveria, and Rebecca Chambers.
The reports were also backed up by popular site, Biohazard France. Still, treat this with a huge pinch of salt for now, at least until we hear otherwise.
