Ratchet & Clank: A Crack in Time
Furry Lombax Ratchet and his robot pal Clank defined platforming on the PlayStation 2, but PS3's A Crack in Time may be the finest entry in their entire wonderful saga. Space combat returned with a more arcade-ey approach that came alongside the debut of free galactic exploration. Good thing each galaxy was so much fun to explore; the best level design in series history was on display in worlds jam-packed with luscious detail and secrets. Even Clank got the star treatment - his time-bending levels housed excellent puzzles that suit his character and narrative arc perfectly. All told, Ratchet & Clank: A Crack in Time effortlessly combines the best parts of past entries while infusing some innovation of its own.
Sackboy's first outing was an incredible debut on PS3, but LittleBigPlanet 2 was a bigger and better creative powerhouse. Media Molecule gave fans the tools to create, and create they did. Entire games have been constructed using assets both included and original, and LittleBigPlanet 2's network now boasts millions of levels and content pieces. It certainly helps that Media Molecule brought creativity of their own - the story and level design of LBP 2 were huge steps up from its predecessor. For frantic co-op fun, for irresistible charm, and for the builder in all of us, there's simply nothing better on PS3.
Which of these two games deserves to move forward in our competition? Cast your votes in the official polling thread, and be sure to vote in all our match-ups to decide the Best PS3 Game Ever!
