Capcom’s revealed that Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil Code: Veronica X will be hitting North America as downloadable titles later this year.
Due for release on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, the survival horror zombie blasters will feature beefed up HD visuals and will be up for grabs in fall 2011. An exact date has yet to be determined.
Both games were outed in Famitsu earlier this week under the moniker of Resident Evil Revival Selection, though it remained unknown at the time as to whether they’d release outside of Japan.
As previously reported on PSU, RE4 will feature all the bonus goodies seen in the PlayStation 2 and Wii versions of the title, though we’re still none the wiser as to whether Code: Veronica X include any extra content.
Resident Evil 4 originally released back in 2005 and stars Raccoon City survivor-turned government agent Leon S. Kennedy, as he travels to Europe to rescue US President Graham’s kidnapped daughter from a band of cultists.
Code: Veronica X meanwhile, stars Redfield siblings Chris and Claire as they uncover the secrets of the Umbrella Corporation’s nefarious activities on Rockfort Island and a hidden base in the Antarctic.
Gamers initially control Claire – aided by a whiny-voiced inmate Steve Burnside – as she attempts to escape Rockfort after being imprisoned on the base before taking up arms as Chris halfway through the game.
Stay tuned for more news on Resident Evil 4 and Code: Veronica X’s revival into the HD era as it breaks.
