To say there are a few disappointed PlayStation Network users may just be the understatement of this generation. In what could be Sony’s biggest blunder in its gaming division’s history, the company is looking to soothe some of those angry, and potentially former, PlayStation loyalists through a “Welcome Back” appreciation program.
The company continues to doubt that any credit card data was stolen during the recent PSN attack, however, Sony is offering complimentary assistance to users in enrolling in identify theft protection services. The service will be implemented at the local level and we expect to hear more details for each region shortly.
And now for what many will consider “compensation,” not for the PSN being offline for more than a week, but instead for the abuse of users’ personal information. This “Welcome Back” program, offered worldwide, will be tailored to specific markets “as an expression of the company’s appreciation for their patience, support and continued loyalty.”
The program will include:
* Each territory will be offering selected PlayStation entertainment content for free download. Specific details of this content will be announced in each region soon.
* All existing PlayStation Network customers will be provided with 30 days free membership in the PlayStation Plus premium service. Current members of PlayStation Plus will receive 30 days free service.
* Music Unlimited powered by Qriocity subscribers (in countries where the service is available) will receive 30 days free service.
Look for additional offerings over the coming weeks. So, do you feel like Sony appreciates you?
