Sony looks set to introduce a new online PlayStation Network Pass initiative, according Internet gossip.
Speculation kicked off after a snapshot of a Resistance 3 bundle appeared online carrying the following message: “PSN Pass Network features only available in countries that have PlayStation Store.”
If true, then it would appear that Sony is looking to follow in the footsteps of publishers such as Electronic Arts and THQ, who both recently introduced an online pass system.
For those out of the loop, this requires punters who fork out for pre-owned games to pay an additional charge in order to gain access to online content.
Sony has previously said that it supports companies who have introduced such an initiative, and said it plans to introduce its own system later down the line. From the look of things, it’s not far off either.
