Heavy Iron Studios boss Lyle Hall reckons punters won’t be lining the streets to plonk down their cash for PlayStation Vita early next year.
Speaking to GI.biz, Hall suggested consumers aren’t willing to “carry more than one thing” in their pocket, and reckons if they didn’t want to fork out for a 3DS they certainly won’t buy a Vita.
"If people aren’t willing to pay $249 for a Nintendo 3DS why would they pay $299 for Vita?" said Hall.
"People don’t want to carry more than one thing in their pocket, that’s why Android and iPhone have done so well, they are the devices of choice, they offer multiple functions outside of gaming.”
"People don’t want it."
Elsewhere, Heavy Iron’s Matthew Seymour also took a few shots at Sony’s recent handheld endeavours, stating: "With all due respects to Sony and Vita, it’s a car wreck. And how about Xperia Play? I’d love to pull up the numbers on that."
PlayStation Vita hit Japan later this year, with a western launch due in early 2012.
