Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 sales well likely trounce those of its predecessor Black Ops and surpass every other game released this year, reckons analyst Michael Pachter.
Speaking to IndustryGamer, Pachter feels that the hotly-anticipated military shooter will follow the series’ trend of smashing entertainment sales records with each new release, reaching $1.1 billion sales within six weeks.
“Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will likely be the year’s top-selling game,” Pachter commented.
“If MW3 receives strong review scores (≈ 85 or above on Metacritic.com), it should at least match predecessor Black Ops’ sales (over 25 million units).”
“[I] would bet that [Modern warfare 3 sales] are 10% higher over the same time frame, so $1.1 billion in the first six weeks,” added Pachter.
Furthermore, the Wedbush Morgan analyst predicted that between three – four million gamers will sign-up for Call of Duty Elite’s premium service.
Modern Warfare 3 will be deployed to retailers around the globe on November 8 for PlayStation 3, PC and Xbox 360.
