Nikkei is reporting that Kazuo Hirai, executive deputy president of Sony Computer Entertainment, is to replace Sir Howard Stringer as president of the Japanese electronics giant.
According to the report (via Reuters), details are to be finalised in a board meeting next month, and Hirai may be promoted to the role of Sony president as early as April 2012.
In addition to his duties as deputy president, Hirai also manages Sony’s consumer businesses. Meanwhile, it is believed that Stringer will stay on as chairman and chief executive officer.
