SEGA confirms Aliens: Colonial Marines delay

SEGA has confirmed that Aliens: Colonial Marines will no longer be released in spring 2012, and will now launch in the autumn.

Chatter on a delay cropped up yesterday when the game’s official website no longer had the shooter’s release down for a spring launch.

However, speaking to CVG, SEGA confirmed that the elusive alien blaster has been delayed in order to prioritize the goal of making a ‘great game’ over meeting its original release window.

"Aliens: Colonial Marines is a process of creativity and invention and those don’t necessarily follow the structure of an assembly line. While setting clear goals, deadlines and predictions is helpful, they are often subjective,” said the firm.

"We don’t want to sacrifice the creative process just for the sake of following a blue print. We prefer to have the creative discovery shape that blue print because our goal is to make a great game, and we are prioritising this goal over the previously targeted date."

Developed by Gearbox Software, Aliens: Colonial Marines will be released for PlayStation 3, PC and Xbox 360 platforms, and was originally unveiled in 2006.
