Earlier in the year, Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima made a statement saying that the highly anticipated PlayStation 3 exclusive, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, would be the last game in the series that he is to be directly involved in.
However, in a phone interview with Next-Gen Biz, Anthony Crouts, Konami Digital Entertainment’s new Marketing Vice President clearly feels this is not to be the case.
“I’m sure he’s never going to let go of Metal Gear Solid—trust me”, offered Crouts.
“[Snake’s] a big character, so as a franchise I think he’ll always hold it near and dear to his heart. In one capacity or another, he will always be involved in the Metal Gear franchise.”
Remember, however, that this is not the first occasion in which Kojima has issued his thoughts of leaving the Metal Gear Solid franchise behind him. In 2004, he made similar statements in regards to Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, but yet he is still around today participating in MGS affairs. Either way, we must take Kojima’s statement as fact for right now but the future is always open to interpretation.
Stay with PSU, as we will bring you more information regarding Kojima’s future with MGS as soon as such content becomes available.
