Prototype 2 getting adults-only live ad in U.K.

Activision’s announced plans for a live adults-only outdoor advertisement event for Prototype 2 this weekend.

Taking place in the U.K. at London’s Covent Garden on April 22, the live ad kicks off at 9 p.m. and features actors portraying various characters from the game including James Heller and Alex Mercer. Blackwatch military personnel and the infected will also feature.

Of course, given the fact the ad is based on an 18-rated product the content of the event has been deemed suitable only for adults, hence the post-watershed slot.

The ad will last five minutes and will be streamed via Prototype 2’s official Facebook page for those who are unable to attend.

Furthermore, fans will be able to cast their vote for one of two endings for the event. The option that receives the most votes will be featured as part of the ad’s grand finale.

Activision’s Minneapolis Business Unit EU general manager, David Tyler, commented:

"Due to the nature of Prototype 2’s content, the game has been rated by the BBFC and PEGI as certificate 18. This live action advertisement reflects the game in its hard-hitting, fantasy nature and whilst we’re excited to bring this new game to our legions of fans, it would be inappropriate for under 18s to view it.”

Prototype 2 is scheduled to ship on April 24 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
