Monster Hunter 3 no longer coming to PS3

Capcom has cited high development costs of working on Sony’s PlayStation 3 console as the reason for why it has made the latest iteration in the Monster Hunter franchise a Nintendo Wii exclusive.

Monster Hunter 3, previously said to be in development for the PS3, was announced yesterday as a Wii exclusive at a Nintendo media briefing in Tokyo.

Katsuhiko Ichii, Capcom’s Managing Corporate Officer, commented, "Due to high development cost of titles for PS3, we have decided to switch the platform to which we release our Monster Hunter 3 title.”

The Monster Hunter series had formally been exclusive to PlayStation 2 and PlayStation Portable, having enjoyed critical and commercial success on a global basis, selling upwards of 4.5 million units.
