Speaking during an interview with Eurogamer, Tekken head honcho Katsuhiro Harada confirmed that Tekken x Street Fighter is still on track for release on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
The Namco-Capcom crossover brawler has been quiet ever since its announcement alongside Street Fighter x Tekken back in July 2010, though it seems the project hasn’t jumped ship to next-generation systems – at least, not yet.
While he couldn’t say for certain if the game would come out on PS3 and 360, Harada-san did reveal that it makes more sense to release the beat-‘em-up for current-gen consoles.
“There’s still a large number of players out there with a PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 who are looking forward to the game,” he said. "So we feel it’s probably more relevant to get the title out to them on the current hardware.”
“We’re not completely sure,” he added, “but that’s the direction at this moment.
Whereas SF x Tekken was played from a 2D perspective, Tekken x Street Fighter will be completely 3D, and as such sees fighters from Capcom’s venerable fighting game series slug it out for the first time on a 3D plane.
