PS Vita sees overheating issues, Sony says it isn't to blame

26 July 2012

Japanese publication Yomiuri Shimbun, via Reghardware, claims that a company specialising in safety is investigating reports of complaints from PlayStation Vita owners about overheating.

According to the story, the National Institute of Technology and Evaluation has been called in to verify or dismiss claims that Sony’s new handheld poses a safety risk. Sony says that this isn’t a problem caused by the hardware, though it has admitted people have complained about the issue.

The overheating problems have apparently prevented some units from turning on or charging. Currently, Sony denies it’s to blame for the overheating Vitas and says that it will only replace affected units for a fee.
