Rumble is finally in town! The PS3’s new firmware, 1.94, will add support for the DualShock 3 controller—but sadly, it isn’t available for download yet, and the controller won’t be available outside of Japan until next year.
If you pick up Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction (the first retail game with built-in rumble support), you’ll be able to find 1.94 right on the disc. There is nothing major in this firmware, and it seems 2.00 won’t be out for a while.
By pressing the middle PS button on the PS3 controller, the DualShock 3’s rumble can be toggled on or off from the Controller Setting menu in-game. Listed as the "vibration function," rumble will only be felt with DualShock 3 controllers.
