Ratchet: Gladiator HD announced

Sony has confirmed that PlayStation 2 title Ratchet: Gladiator will be receiving a HD makeover at some point.

Gladiator was originally released back in October 2005, and was notably absent from the recent Ratchet & Clank HD Collection, which launched last month in the U.S.

Known as Deadlocked in North America, the title will be re-released on PS3 and PlayStation Network, and sees players control Ratchet – with Clank conspicuous by his absence as a playable character – as he takes part in a deadly game show where the series’ shooting mechanics take precedence over platforming.

No word yet on a release date or pricing, but with Ratchet & Clank celebrating their 10th anniversary this year, we hope it’ll see the light of day before 2012 wraps.
