Screenshots of ‘Crash Team Racing 2010’ surface on YouTube

PlayStation veterans know that Crash Team Racing is the absolute pinnacle of kart racer gameplay and charming design. Ok, I embellish a bit. Still, Naughty Dog’s last Crash Bandicoot installment was a PlayStation hit and an excellent swan song for an orange marsupial who has fallen on troubled times in the hands of license owner Activision. However, hope for a worthy follow-up springs eternal.

YouTube user TheCrashProject has posted a minute-long video of screenshots allegedly captured from the beta testing phase of ‘Crash Team Racing 2010’, which was supposedly in development by High Impact Games until Activision shuttered the project for unknown reasons. The screenshots certainly seem legit, but I notice that none of the tracks on display resemble tracks from the original CTR. High Impact is best-known for developing Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier, Secret Agent Clank, and Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters, all of which debuted on PSP.
