Speaking during an interview with The Guardian, Sony has confirmed that production of the PlayStation 2 has ceased globally.
Last week news emerged that the electronics giant had put a lid on production of its 12-year-old home console in Japan.
However, Sony has now revealed that the platform is no longer being produced on an international basis.
PS2 was released in March 2000 in Japan and hit the U.S. and Europe later that year. Boasting the now infamous ‘Emotion Engine,’ the console went on to sell a whopping 150 million units worldwide, becoming the best-selling home platform of all time.
